A quick read despite its 423 pages, and it has fantastic artwork with a cinematic feel.
The narrative is necessarily abridged, even in this tome of a book, and while it is sympathetic to Che and his ideals, it's not a hagiography as Che is shown personally executing people in the field of combat, and ordering executions when in power.
It was an interesting read for me, coming shortly after finishing ⬇️
Against expectation, I was delighted to find a bookshop in the small town of Dalbeattie, and moreso to find it had a good selection of titles (even if one of those is amongst my lowest-rated books: "Dongarusalem", ? I'm looking at you!).
"Che" is a graphic-bio, which I'm going to read next.
"Arthurian Poets: Robinson" is an early 20thC collection I've not come across before, which I hope to be good?
Mishima's "Thirst for Love" sounds like a ⬇️
Dense, detailed history. Che was quite the Renaissance man. Through the lense of hindsight, nothing has changed in Latin America & in fact his compatriot Castro perpetuated the cycle of poverty & exploitation that they rebelled against.
One of the big great reads this year. This book sheds a lot of light into Che‘s life, and the politics around Cuba, Russia, Argentina, and the US at the time of his existence. Definitely recommend.

pickIt‘s been a long time coming, but I finished the Che Guevara biography (thanks to a productive June with days off to focus on making progress). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ on Goodreads & a🤘🏼on #Litsy for anyone wanting a thorough, well-researched, highly detailed chunkster of a read.
Coming back to Che after a significant hiatus. Trying to focus on making headway in the two weeks leading up to my next book club meeting...

I picked this book up in 2002...and it has sat on my shelves...waiting. I started to read it in the late 2000s/early 2010s (🤷🏻♀️), but stopped...I lent it to a friend, who finished it...I put it on my “To Read in 2018” list, but didn‘t read it (heck, I even marked off ~100 page chunks to make it more “doable”). It‘s you & me in 2019, Che. We‘re doing this. It starts now...📖

My signed edition of CHE GUEVARA: A REVOLUTIONARY LIFE. I had drinks with Jon Lee Anderson after discovering he lives in my old hometown in England. Nice man. Had some great stories to tell.
I've claimed this for the USA and Mexico in the Americas reading challenge, as those are the nationalities of the writer and illustrator respectively, which is how in approaching it, but from a subject POV, it could be claimed for Argentina, Cuba and Bolivia, too.
