After the death of his wife, Scottish scholar Andrew Macleod finds solace in his research. Very interesting new magazine crossed my desk today - Technoskeptic. The opening article was really quite fascinating regarding hyper-dependence on technology. Two statements stood out for me - parents today do not feel their children are safe/can survive without a smartphone, which did not exist 12 years ago, and a comment from a Harvard professor that without GPS navigation, people would be cold, hungry, & die. Really? And what about Facebook?

DivineDiana Cold, hungry and die?!? I don‘t think so! 🙄 6y
hgrimes Wow oooook! Probably some google maps programmer wrote the thing. 6y
Tamra Oh good grief. I think some parents do believe this and it only reinforces my commitment to keep smart phones away from my kids until they can pay for the phone and service themselves. (edited) 6y
Zelma 🙄 We still use an atlas on road trips. Sometimes phones don‘t work. 6y
