VonDerrit Myers was a black teenager who was fatally shot by Jason Flanery, an off-duty cop, in St. Louis, MO in 2015. The officer claimed that VonDerrit had a gun, but that claim has been repeatedly challenged. No charges were filed against the officer.

I‘ve had some busy evenings recently, and I‘m seriously delinquent on my #LitsyPoetry365 posts, so I‘ll be sending some rapid-fire update posts ...get excited!

I‘m switching it up from Margaret Atwood‘s collection THE CIRCLE GAME, and sharing poems from Joshua Bennett‘s debut THE SOBBING SCHOOL. I had the pleasure of hearing him read last night at The Midtown Scholar Bookstore, and it was so powerful!
