Celia Reynolds is the youngest in a set of triplets and the one with the least valuable power. Anne can see the future, and Jane can see the present, but all Celia can see is the past. And the past seems so insignificant -- until Celia meets Lo. Lo doesn't know who she is. Or who she was. Once a human, she is now almost entirely a creature of the sea -- a nymph, an ocean girl, a mermaid -- all terms too pretty for the soulless monster she knows she's becoming. Lo clings to shreds of her former self, fighting to remember her past, even as she's tempted to embrace her dark immortality. When a handsome boy named Jude falls off a pier and into the ocean, Celia and Lo work together to rescue him from the waves. The two form a friendship, but soon they find themselves competing for Jude's affection. Lo wants more than that, though. According to the ocean girls, there's only one way for Lo to earn back her humanity. She must persuade a mortal to love her . . . and steal his soul.

A mermaid who can't remember who she used to be; a musician who almost drowns; and a set of triplets: one who sees the future, one who sees the present, and one who sees the past.

Lots of good characters. It's a “retelling“ of The Little Mermaid but I don't see a connection other than “story involving a mermaid“ Still worth checking out! #fairytalereadingchallenge

A different take on a classic fairy tale. This was a retelling of The Little Mermaid. It was dark and ominous, and even had a surprising turn of events. I really enjoyed reading this book almost as much as Pearce‘s other novels.

4.25 stars. It was fun to come back to this series! This is definitely a dark, siren story. Don't expect a Disney Ariel to be part of this story. I enjoyed the darkness, and our characters a lot.

HOTPock3tt This sounds interesting! 6y
shaegeeksout @HOTPock3tt The whole series is fun. This is book 3 in a Fairytale series of companion books. They all have tie ins to each other, and best to read them in order. 6y
HOTPock3tt Oh thanks for letting me know! ❤️I thought it was a stand alone and was considering reading it 🤔I will go read up on the first one!! Lol!☺️📚 6y
