A debut novelist has trouble finding a publisher for her YA zombie novel until she attributes her work to a masculine pseudonym. Daphne hires someone to play the author on the book tour and they fall for each other. I really had a good time with this one - both Daphne and Chris were sweet and good together. Loved the Canadian settings too! #netgalley

I got really hooked into these characters 3 books ago. That feeling has not diminished with book 4. I will continue reading these.

I was looking for something lighthearted last night and started this…Got to 18% and it was just not doing it for me.

This is a VERY old #NetGalley ARC 😅

slategreyskies I remember reading that one and having to suspend my disbelief at all the plot holes. Not sure why I finished it. 2d
Amor4Libros @slategreyskies That‘s how I was feeling. I kept thinking: “I‘ll keep going, there must be something salvageable here”…But it just wasn‘t happening 🙃 2d

#ARC #MountARC #NetGalley - meanwhile published

The mage of mages and a queen's guard decide, after years of a secret relationship, to run away together and open a tea/book shop in a small town. So far so Legends&Latte + Bookshops&Bonedust.

The novel finds its feet around 40%, when secondary characters have been introduced and a quest seems to come up.

There is potential for a series and I'm looking forward to it.

Yet another fabulous Kim Stone book from Ms Marsons. I always think there‘s got to come a time when one book isn‘t as good as the previous one, but they‘re always better.

This one is particularly twisty-turny, in both the cases featured. The titular storyline concerns young girls competing in beauty pageants and, of course, anything to do with mothering brings up issues for Kim.

Published at the end of the month.

Oh I loved this so much. It was brilliant, funny and sweet. The romance is cute and the humour is so on point. I as a Bon Jovi fan, loved the references throughout the book. This does touch lightly on consent and I like how it got handled. Not between main characters. Speaking of them oh they're so much fun. Clara has her issues but she works her way through it. Henry is just adorable. The ending was utterly perfect. #Netgalley 5*

Dragon exterminator Robert, Princess Cerisse, and Prince Reginald find their worlds colliding when there‘s a new threat of magically bred dragons on the horizon.

I‘m so glad I read The Last Unicorn recently. Beagle has such a talent for lyrical writing that feels like a fairy tale. For all the briefness, we get character growth, adventure, fun side characters, a little romance, & a glimpse into a lush & fascinating world! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

This novel is all about ambition and power – what would you do to get it and what would it cost you – were very central to the plot and character motivations.

Meilin leaves her family to join the army out ambition and a desire for autonomy. She wants to find a place for herself and not be defined by the men around her. A dangerous ambition as a competent woman in the realm of men upsets the social order.

PuddleJumper What stood out for me was that the character thought about the consequences of her choices, what would happen if she stayed, what would happen if she was discovered, and still made the choice to disguise herself because it was the only way to get what she wanted and that was worth the risk.

7d
PuddleJumper The book is split into three parts and each part was paced differently which was a bit odd. The second and third parts were a lot faster pace and there wasn‘t much development during those sections. The first part felt more developed as time was spent setting the world up and the characters.

7d
PuddleJumper I thought the book lost its way in the middle a bit. The introduction of the situationship triangle didn‘t fit with the rest of the book and felt very awkward. I hesitate to call it a love triangle as none of the parties actually loved or liked each other.

7d
PuddleJumper It was still an amazing book that gripped me from the start. I loved the magical element and the world building, each kingdom had its own history and culture that were distinct, most of the characters were fleshed out and the family and friendship relationships felt organic, it was just the romance that was weird.

Would definitely recommend to people that enjoy historical fantasy.
