I can‘t remember the person who originally gave me this idea, or I would tag them. I never tire of new ways to track books.

Now that we‘ve finished Harry Potter my 10 year old son and I are all at sea. What to read next? He‘s giving me push back on Hound of the Baskervilles. Too scary. So I‘m previewing this in hopes it is suitable for a sensitive 10 year old at bedtime.

I had a hell of a morning. And my birthday is coming up. So I‘m ignoring everything that needs doing and organizing a bookshelf. Because...self-care.

“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” My 6 year old daughter saw this and then later said “you know that thing on the bookshelf about having everything? That‘s us!!! We have a garden and a library! We have everything! It should say water though, because humans need water to live.” My work here is done.

When people know you love books you wind up with boxes of them given to you. And sometimes there‘s a gem! Favorite alphabet book ever!!! I always pronounce Mercer Mayer “Merker Mayer” because that‘s how my grandma always said it. Only embarrassingly late and in front of a bookstore clerk did I realize...wait...that‘s not right.

Just finished the series and I‘m filled with righteous rage that Ginny didn‘t get to name any of her children after her dead family members. NOT EVEN FRED!!!

Erinsuereads 20 years of harry potter and suddenly I am filled with righteous indignation.... 6y
Thatpartyhat For real though! Each kid gets a first and middle name dedicated to someone important to Harry. JK Rowling, you are better than that. 6y

I‘m only a little way into this book but can this please be real life? (I‘m going to eat my words later. I can tell.)

This book manages to be everything I love all at once. Fiction and nonfiction, poetic writing and page-turning. It is an exercise in not giving the reader anything she wants or expects yet I am still so satisfied with the outcome and takeaways.

While the anti abortion, male supremacist future drives the book there is so much more. I worry that those with strong emotional ties to these topics will shrink away. Don‘t! It‘s so great.

RaimeyGallant Great review. :) And welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. It's the link in my bio on my page in case you need it. 6y

What a fun little book! I wish it was twice as long! My affinity for these books about hermits and marooned sailors and otherwise lonesome people is starting to worry me. I think I‘ll carve out some more alone time.

I‘m experiencing much unanticipated stress while reading this book! Probably because my great grandparents were Mormon Polygamists living in the Mexican colonies and this could‘ve been my life if my grandmother hadn‘t fled. Thankful for her today.

Jess7 Welcome to Litsy!!! 6y
Kaye Welcome and thank you for the follow. That‘s quite an exciting back story to this book. I have it on audio but haven‘t listened to it yet. I have to be in the right mood for some of these type of books. Makes me claustrophobic to think about living under so many rules and laws and unusual lifestyles. 6y
