I listened to this in a single day. I started first thing in the morning and while initially I was just feeling okay about it I soon got swept up and could not not finish before bed. I am discovering that found family is one of those tropes that, if done right, I will fall completely in love.

I had to delay my turn to borrow Holly twice now because I am still trying to finish reading Hello Beautiful.

After this, I seriously need something fun.

This was near perfection. This will be my go to rec for anyone who is grieving.

I am reading three books. The tagged book, TJ Klune‘s “Under the Whispering Door” and Shobha Rao‘s “Girls Burn Brighter”. I would recommend all three books.

Under the Whispering Door

This was a gut punch. Starts out as a commentary/satire about social media and completely does a 180*.

I usually like Megan Abbott but 14% in and I was hating everything about this. Time to move on.

My grandmother went on a train trip to Canada when I was a preteen. She brought home my first copy of Anne of Green Gables that I completely wore out. Now I love picking up random copies in thrift stores to add to my collection.

Listened to the audiobook.

This book is a hidden gem. The writing is deceptively simple, and is a quick read but there is a lot to unpack. I will definitely be thinking about this book for a long time.

Although I love S. Rowley, I have to admit that The Celebrants did not quite work. It was good, but the build up to the end was uneven and kind of indulgent. The final chapter though was perfection.

He was an astronaut, he imagined, like in one of those movies; his mission took him to a distant planet on the far reaches of the solar system, Saturn, perhaps, or Neptune.

This was a Kindle First pick and on surface level it seems like one of this fun, low stakes read. However, it was definitely a book I underestimated. Lots going on and lots to love. I was actually disappointed when I got to the end because I 100% wanted to stay in the story.
