In 2018 I have set a goal to read at minimum one book a month by an author from outside the United States. Please recommend any of your favorites. I am stepping out of my box. My January book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho a renowned Brazilian Author. “The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.” Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist .

This was an engaging novel. I listened to the audio version to and from work and then read in the evenings. The audio book adds an extra depth, where the style of writing can be challenging. Profanity laden, with unique grammatical choices. This is an own voices book by an author born in the the Dominican Republic and now resides in The United States. I look forward to reading more from this author.

So it's October perfect time of year for this kind of read. But can I say creepy kids are well, just creepy. This read gives me Dean Koontz vibes. I'm listening to the audio version on the way to and from work and so far I've enjoyed the creepiness. #spooky #scary

I have been reading the vampire series since I discovered the series in the 80's. I just can't see the purpose in the direction of this story, no spoilers. I'll leave it to say I missed the version of Lestat that I grew up with. I feel the character was just off in many ways. How was the book for anyone else who read it?

Pickpick

Every once in a while you read a book that will stay with you long after you close the cover. A Little Life, was one such story. I believe I have heard it said that the author wanted to take the characters to their highest highs and lowest lows in drastic ways, to paraphrase. I feel she did it perfectly with these characters. It's a book I always recommend and then ask the person to please still be my friend once finished.
