#Hygge is an element of the lifestyle in Denmark & some other European nations that some believe is the key to happiness. 💗 A very hygge scene: blankets, pillows, curling up with a good book and a hot beverage, near a fireplace, with a storm raging outside. This was a rather intense book, and as much as I loved it I may not suggest it for everyone. It is a memoir of a woman who has faced severe trauma, and as a result has struggled with her body. As an “overweight”, black woman in America, I could relate to much of what she spoke of in this book— though of course her experience is her own. It broke my heart, and reminded me how important it is for books like this to be written. 🍰 #RoxaneGay #Hunger

This book! 🐠 As an introvert this book was such a pleasure to read. The author discusses the power of introversion, tips for how to create safe and comfortable social and work lives for introverts, and even gives insight into the introvert world for the extroverts reading the book. I began 2018 with reading Maya Angelou‘s memoir, “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings”. 🕊 So I wanted my first book of 2019 to also be a Maya Angelou book. I am a huge poetry reader (and writer) and Maya Angelou has long been one of my biggest inspirations!
