Meditative and filled with awe for life. Rushed ending though.

Started as maybe and I made it two thirds of the way before getting sick of the wooden characters and derivative plot. It also seemed to be setting up for a future love triangle.
Emotionally satisfying and enjoyable due to my personal tastes rather than being really exceptional. I loved these, but the series was choppy and at times sentimental. It also lacked plausibility. But it was brisk and perfectly apiece with a genre I love.
Ups and downs. Quick reading with a few eye rolls in some spots but some decent plotting elsewhere.
Not as good as book one but still really enjoyable. A story of a family in decline trying to brace up for the war.
Lots of fun. Great for fans of fiction set during the Interwar Period. Quiet and humorous at first, but then exciting and serious during the second half. Written in the style of the time, but with the ability to comment on issues that would have been harder to discuss openly then.
Iffy. Same issues as Alexander's last book. Corny, a couple plot lines that seemed implausible.
Meditative and profound. The joy of time and nature according to the experiences of children.
