Kay's Lucky Coin Variety | Ann Y. K. Choi

Heard Ann Y. K. Choi read a passage from her book 'Kay's Lucky Coin Variety' at #wotsTO2016 today! Even more excited to read it now. Also scored this sweet tote bag featuring Daniel Rotsztain's illustrations of all of Toronto's Carnegie libraries! An all-around success!

WOW! I couldn't put this one down. Not much else to say without giving away the plot. Just read.

Flannery | Lisa Moore

Attention #CanLit fans: there's a new redhead heroine on the island! (Newfoundland, to be precise). I loved Lisa Moore's Flannery. The novel follows the title character through the trials and tribulations of high school, friendship, first love, and family. Great read!

Jilanna Hmm...this reminds me that I'm supposed to borrow the copy I gave my niece once she's read it...time to check in with her. Again. :) Lisa Moore is an excellent writer. February is one of the best books I've ever read. Still in Newfoundland, but quite different -- have you read Come, Thou Tortoise by Jessica Grant? 8y
JDR @Jilanna just looked up the description of 'Come, Thou Tortoise'. Sounds good! I'll add it to my never ending TBR list. 8y

When you count hauling your library book sale treasures all the way home as your "exercise" for the day.

susanw You say that like it's not? 8y
JDR @susanw You're right, it was legit exercise. I was sweating 8y

If you're looking to fill the Georgia Nicholson-sized hole in your heart, look no further than 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4' by Sue Townsend. Adrian's daily diary offers readers a glimpse into his life as a child of a one-parent family, caretaker to an old-age pensioner, tortured poet, misunderstood intellectual and a young boy in love. Eighties references aside, Adrian Mole's painfully honest diary feels timeless. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

1.5 hours into #24in48. Diving back into the magical world of Harry Potter. Great series for a readathon!

Bookworm54 I'm thinking I might start a reread, but then I'm going to have to read the whole series and my tbr pile is already starting to feel a little unloved! 8y

Started the #24in48 readathon by finishing Voracious by Cara Nicoletti. I'll never look at food scenes in books the same way again! So good.

"We believe the one who has the power. He is the one who gets to write the story. So when you study history, you must always ask yourself, Whose story am I missing? Whose voice was suppressed so that this voice could come forth? Once you have figured that out, you must find that story too."
