Original post on 9/28/16: No idea how this book landed in my hands, but I finished after being glued to my phone and TV all day waiting for news after a school shooting in my district. Told by Caitlyn, a child with Asperger's syndrome, it talks of her search for a literal Closure after her brother is killed in a school shooting. With allusions to TKAMB, the theme of walking in others' shoes resonates. Love. #townvillestrong

As a 7th grade ELA teacher and reader I have come to the sad realization that technology and testing that pushes reading to cite evidence is creating a generation of kids who "hate to read." Our school library is now into a computer check out center with book storage. My new mission is to find the best YA books out there to entice my kids to #justkeepreading. Can't wait to see what Litsy has to offer! Suggestions welcome! #firstlitsypost

silverlocusts Welcome! My niece really loved a series called The Ranger's Apprentice when she was about that age. 8y
josie281 The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer is a series all of mine (14,11, and 10) enjoy. There are familiar storybook characters in there so it helps. The Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce was also a favorite. 8y
Laura317 My 7th grade girl loves all the the Ms Peregrine books. She also recommends Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor and the John Green books - I think Looking for Alaska is the name. 8y
