Went through all the different emotions with Ruby; both at home and at school. Despite all the challenges she went through she somehow always found a way to get through these. I liked her relationship with Julian Mambasa and for a moment there I thought something might develop between them. The saddest part for me though was when her family had to leave but her mother decided to stay back home to help those she thought needed her more.

I enjoyed it; I loved how they always gave a proper explanation of the sneakers being worn. This was a very sad book; how Starr always seemed to loose close friends was very sad. It's sad that the book was actually based on a true story about police brutality, I enjoyed it

I love how despite their differences Kayla and Wade always find a way back to each other. They are both prepared to loose what's important, Wade (his investment), Kayla ( Ainsley house) in order to stay in love. While going through the book I couldn't see any possible way of them ending up together; the end was unexpected, but I loved it.
