This book follows a girl growing up in South Carolina, it deals with class issues, abuse and other societal issues she faces. Bones mother was 15 when she was born, this sets the stage for how the towns folk treat her. The book goes through her life from birth to about 13 I think.

An epidemic of blindness suddenly hits, at first the government attempts to quarantine those afflicted but soon everyone is blind. Except one women, she guides and takes care of a group of blind people. I really enjoyed the writing style and I really questioned how this situation might pan out in reality.

Kinda topical to read this during a pandemic. This book goes through the AIDS epidemic starting before we even had a name for it and goes through the politics and people surrounding it all. A lot of details here, almost anything you‘d want to know about the epidemic.

Micheal Pollan talks about factory farming and explores the industrial food chain. He explains how fast food and soda can be so cheap but quality food cost more. Corn is the secret. He then explores farms and ranches that ethically raise crops and animals for food. He finishes by hunting, foraging and growing a whole meal.

A must read! The story of dial painters who were exposed to massive amounts of radium. This book goes through their journey to justice and declining health. This is real, and the way these women were treated by the radium company is abhorrent.

This book takes place 15 years after the original Handmaids Tale book. The book takes place through the eyes of Aunt Lydia, who is in the first book and a prominent character in the show. A girl who grew up in Gilead, she goes through her childhood and her current state as an Aunt. Then a girl who lives in Canada near the border. This book is a solid sequel, continuing from the show more than just the first book.

I got like halfway through before I just couldn‘t read more. I can‘t even describe it really, it‘s just dumb. Two characters are running to call the police and desire to start their romance there. Like okay sure. Frankly, don‘t even bother.

While this is historical fiction there are beads of truth. At the end of my version the author went over what was true and what was just for the story. A interesting story about a women blamed for the death of local children and accused of being a witch. The hangman aims to prove her innocent. I loved this time frame for a mystery story like this. Give it a shot.

Way overpriced, like all textbooks. If you need it for a class though get the online material with it. There‘s places I felt had a weird way of explaining so I ended up going to YouTube anyway. Good luck with your class though.

If you‘re a fan of true crime give this book a shot. The story of Rodney Alcala, who would murder at least 8 women before he was caught. What I really love about this book is the time given to the victims lives and their family. Testimonies from the family‘s are so powerful and I loved it.

This book is a great start to a great series. The main character is Darrow, who is born a red but throughout is made into a gold by the group Sons of Ares to help them start the war. The end goal is liberation, kinda like hunger games. The entire series is amazing, please read. ❤️❤️❤️

Finished this a few minutes ago. Honestly most of the book is so great, there are a few convenient plot devices but the story‘s good. The end is why I mark it as so so. It gets kinda cliche with the bad guy just saying what he‘s going to do. Also the fact that the FBI is “to busy” to investigate this murder bothered me but that‘s such a small detail in the story.

Incest is wincest amiright. JUST KIDDING IT IS NOT. This book is INSANE and crazy af. Though it‘s so good and I could not put it down. The premise is the father dies so the mom moves her and her four kids in with their grandparents. The kids are forced to live in the attic and neglected. There‘s so much to unpack all I can say is read it.

Greta Helsing is a doctor for supernatural beings, or differently alive as she puts it. This is the first book in the series and the characters you meet are awesome and written beautifully. Frankly some of the best moments are when the main characters are in a group just talking. The story itself is a bit predictable but still a good time. I highly recommend if for no other reason than hanging out with Vivian Shaw‘s characters.

Elizabeth‘s real story of being kidnapped from her bedroom by knife point. It‘s such a great book and she has such a great outlook on life. If you can listen to her audiobook version ❤️.
