Days of Abandonment | Elena Ferrante
Mehso-so

Unfortunately, I had to take a break from Days...it was relentlessly emotionally intense, and I felt myself spiraling in despair, just like the protagonist.

Although it's well-written and I still want to read Ferrante's Neapolitan series, I'm afraid I had to put this selection down.

Pickpick

I wasn't expecting the emotional complexity to be so high, or the writing to be so good. I think it really does speak for those teenagers--or even 'grownups'--who are still searching for their place in everything, who are quieter and more thoughtful than most.

MrBook Nice review 😊👍🏻. 8y

"So I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them."

I have heard a lot about Ferrante, so I thought I would start with this before tackling her Neapolitan series--dip my toe in the water, so to speak. Excited to start it!
