Really probably more like 3.5 stars. I liked learning about the West and this time period. I thought everything about midwifery and the medical field was interesting. Just grew bored with the Hole in the Wall story the 2nd half of the book. It was just a bit ‘meh‘ for me. Not bad, not great.

I LOVED the historical part of this novel. I've read quite a few books set during the time of the French Resistance and I get sucked in every time. If you like the time period and the way in which Harmel writes, read The Book of Lost Names. It is a better story and captures the time period with more developed characters. I did enjoy reading about the Champagne region and Reims in this book though. I just wasn't a fan of many of the characters.

monkeygirlsmama The Book of Lost Names was amazing. 3y
Bookgirl_Isaacson @monkeygirlsmama yes!! Book of Lost Names was sooo good! I feel like Harmel started researching the Resistance for this book, loved the topic, and then really did it justice in Lost Names. 3y
monkeygirlsmama @Bookgirl_Isaacson I still haven't read this one, but I will eventually. 3y

I think I liked The Tourist Attraction a bit more than this one. This book definitely didn‘t need to be nearly 400 pages long. I found that it picked up in the last 3rd of the book. But I didn‘t find Lana and Rick nearly as entertaining as Zoey and Graham. Still not a bad book. Just not great.

This young adult novel was even more than I thought it would be! It tackles so much! This is a fantastic book for those wanting to understand more fully what it means to experience life being a Black person. The book is equal parts historical fiction, current events, and mystery all rolled into one very well-written story. The book style was a bit tough for me to get into at first but stick with it as it all comes together. Very thought-provoking!

Without thinking too hard about it, I really liked this book. It was a quick read and I wanted to see how it all turned out in relation to Dannie‘s dream. The book definitely took a turn I wasn‘t expecting and hit me with all the feels. The characters aren‘t super relatable or realistic. But if you‘re an empath, the theme of choosing who you consider ‘family‘ is good and worth reading this book.

I haven‘t read Jane Eyre so I didn‘t have that background for reading this book. I found this predictable and none of the characters were likeable. There‘s a bit of a good twist at the end. It was a quick read, but happy to move on to my next book. It wasn‘t bad, just wasn‘t great either.

This book gave me Northern Exposure meets Gilmore Girls vibes! I kept envisioning Graham as an Alaskan version of Luke Danes from Gilmore Girls. Lol! This would actually make for a fun and entertaining Netflix series. I could picture each of Zoey‘s vacation days as a different episode.

I enjoyed this romp through the little town of Moose Springs and its characters. It‘s predictable, but just dive in and enjoy it anyway. Perfect escapism!

I have loved all of Marie Benedict‘s books. This was probably my least favorite one. While I can appreciate that she wanted to break from her usual style and try something different with Agatha Christie, this missed the mark for me. I think because much of it was from her husband‘s point of view.

This one was just not nearly as interesting or intriguing as her other books. I shall eagerly await her next book though!

A sweet story. Predictable but I still enjoyed it. Very quick easy read to escape with.
