I enjoyed this wonderful book. Beautiful themes of love, healing, and starting over after abuse. It brightened day. My only minor complaint is that I could tell it was written by someone who had vacationed in Maine but not lived here. Vacationing here vs living here are two different experiences, IMO.
Aside from that, great read!

Susanita I enjoyed this book because the romance seemed authentic, even with the unconventional setup. 2mo
Kerrbearlib @Susanita I felt the same way about the romance seeming authentic. 2mo

This one was so much more satisfying than its predecessor and I really liked being with Emily solely, rather than flipping around to her other family members...although I am so fond of Arlene. I had a little trouble with the timeline since Wish You Were Here seems like it takes place roughly a decade before this book. Rufus, her then elderly dog, was still around?! I'm happy he was, though. 🐶

Prompt: ANGEL

What a lovely, lovely book.

Widowed at 40, lonely, wondering what to do now after she had let years pass by, "Angel" Dawn Marie decided to vacation in Scotland.

If you enjoy Scottish history and listening/reading the written Gaelic brogue, you will fall in love with the book and definitely the characters.

Not in my top favorites of the year but still a good read. In The Year of Second Chances the MC Robin learns that her deceased husband set her up a dating profile for her to move on a year after his death. The book follows her along the journey of really dealing with her grief and ultimately finding herself with what is next. She learns it's ok to take care of yourself after she's taken so much time caring for everyone else.

Any guesses on how many pages I read before this bench gets uncomfortable?

1. I don't often go on picnics, but I'd take either hard-boiled eggs, deviled eggs, or an egg salad sandwich. Homemade iced tea to drink.

2. The tagged book 📖

Audiobook narration by Julia Whelan really brings out both the great banter and serious emotional themes of this story. So fun to listen to, and touching and romantic too.
