O‘Nan is so good. Truly. The way he gets into the mind of an 80 year old widow is astounding. Although I‘m not 80, due to all my autoimmune diseases I have a lot of the same issues that Emily experiences - difficulty driving at night and judging spatial relationships, the attention and concern about every slightly- off ache or pain, the bird watching. So impressed. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

BarbaraBB I‘ve loved some of his other books so am glad Ruth this recommendation! #stacked 10mo
BarbaraBB I now notice it‘s a sequel to the tagged book. Have you read that one? 10mo
Aimeesue @BarbaraBB I haven‘t, yet, but I plan to. It‘ll be interesting to look at the family backward I guess! 😋 10mo

Emily was the first grandparent in literature who came to my mind. I ❤️ the Emily books. Bonus: a picture of my grandmothers from back in the day. Aren‘t they cute! #FallTreasures #GrandparentsDay

Pickpick

Emily Maxwell, a widow whose grown children have long since moved away, dreams of visits from her grandchildren while mourning the turnover of her quiet Pittsburgh neighborhood. When her sister-in-law and sole companion, Arlene, faints at their favorite breakfast buffet, Emily's life changes in unexpected ways that force her to assume more independence. A quick and quiet read. 3/5 stars
