Gaudy Night | Dorothy L. Sayers

These two #whodunits from the 1930‘s have been on my #TBR shelf for about 20 years 😱. Has anyone out there read them?

#OldCoolBooks #whodunit

Leniverse I love Sayers' Lord Peter books! And Gaudy Night is my favourite. I've read it multiple times. But I recommend reading a few other books before Gaudy Night. That book is more about Harriet Vane than Peter, and you should at least read the book where she is introduced first, so that you understand their relationship. 6y
Leniverse The Nine Taylors is one of the two books she has on Boxall's 1001 list. (Gaudy Night should really be there too.) It's been a while since I read it, but I think you can probably read that one without having read any of the previous books. Although there might be references to previous cases which could be spoilers for those books. 6y
MrsMalaprop Thanks @Leniverse 😊. Will try to get hold of Strong Poison before I read these two. 6y
Leniverse Harriet isn't in Nine Taylors, so no need for that. It's better to get to know Peter pre-Harriet first. 😉 6y
Linsy TBR shelves can be like that! There are some books I fear I‘ll never get to. 6y

Pickpick

I thoroughly enjoyed my first #WhoDunItByMail selection! The setting took place, in what feels like, my own backyard, Lake Powell! I guessed the suspect pretty early on, but there were enough red herrings to keep me second-guessing. I included this beautiful photograph of Slot Canyon taken by my mom's friend to help my fellow #WhoDunIts with a visual of some of the scenery from this book. Thanks, @Susanita for a great start to this exchange!

Susanita I'm glad you liked it! Beautiful picture. 7y
