I love Sarah Addison Allen and this book was not a disappointment. I loved all the traditional magical realism elements, and characters that find love and acceptance. It only took me one day to read and it made me want to eat cake the whole time.

I love the multiple fire metaphors and imagery used to dissect two American families as they come together in random circumstances. It made me reevaluate what constitutes family as I burned through this story.
