I have literally no clue what I just read. I can tell you it involves an upside down world of whales, a prophecy, a renamed Moby Dick and a lot of confusion. However I cannot make sense of it.

Excellent vocabulary and somewhat longer than the average children‘s book. A story of struggle and friendship.

One of my favorite books of all-time. Melville is a literary genius. The three versions I have are the Easton Press 1977 version on the left, the 1976 W.W. Norton & Company version in the middle, and a Modern Library version from 1950. It was the first piece of true literature I read as a child. I found it lying about my mother‘s old books in the basement.

Leftcoastzen Lovely editions ! 2mo
ValerieAndBooks Nice! I have two editions of Moby-Dick; neither of which are what you have 😊 . Your Easton Press one is especially nice. 2mo

Kicking off my 2020 reading year the best way I know how! I figured today would be a perfect day to read an entire book and check off one of my challenge boxes--before real life jumps back in and demands attention. This book is beautifully illustrated but wow the story is out there. I'm finding it hard to suspend disbelief. Highly imaginative, though, with some thought provoking philosophy. #finishinaday #booked2020 #booked2020winter

Alora Its very pretty! 😍 Love the layout/font 2mo

Since I read fiction, nonfiction, ya, and graphic novels, I cheated and picked 10 from each category so I didn't have to narrow down too much. Choosing these was like picking which pet or kid I love more...😂

Here's my #Top10oftheDecade #NonfictionEdition.

Any friends who have not already done this, I'd love to see your picks.

Scochrane26 I didn‘t put the Mister Rogers bio on my list, but I loved it. 2mo
Addison_Reads @Scochrane26 I still want to go watch the Tom Hanks movie too. Have you seen it? 2mo
Scochrane26 @Addison_Reads Yes, I saw it during thanksgiving. It‘s really good but not a bio exactly. The main focus is on a reporter who interviewed mister Rogers & developed a friendship. It had some powerful moments, & Tom Hanks is amazing. 2mo
Crazeedi @Addison_Reads just saw the movie with my girls, my youngest and I had a daily routine of Mr Rogers when she was little. We loved it, lots of good cry moments 2mo

Baby Whale | Lynn Wilson, Jean Cassels

A good nonfiction book that discusses the journey of a typical humpback whales life. Following one baby whales life while giving facts and showing problems faced by typical humpbacks. It uses pretty illustrations and easy language to explain how whales eat and learn to swim and survive.

Baby Whale by Lynn Wilson (nonfiction, published 1991)is a book that uses illustrations to show the life of humpback whales. It is a good book and told in a story-like format so that the children will follow the 'storyline'. It is a good book for elementary students to learn about whales' lives and how they survive. I think I would like to have this in my classroom because it will hold interest while also teaching them.

Loved this book. A great companion piece for anyone who has read Moby Dick as well as a great meditation on whales and our history with them. A very moving and lovely book.

Actual photo of me trying to read Moby Dick last week. Review to follow.

And if you haven‘t heard of them, The Language Nerds post brilliant things on Facebook.

julesG Did you finish it? I had to read Moby Dick for a university class and I wanted to accidentally on purpose drop it in the recycling bin several times. 3mo

Libby1 @JennyM , @julesG , @Hooked_on_books , @Bklover - I DID finish it, and I hated lots of it and loved some of it. Such a frustrating book. I‘m a vegetarian and support a whale charity, so of course I was rooting for the whale the whole time! 3mo

Bklover I‘d root for the whale too! 🐳 3mo
