We‘re home safe from our #vacancesfrancaises! France was lovely, although I got very little reading done and am still adjusting back to my time zone. Woke up early this morning, so I have time for some coffee, Nutella waffles, and a bit from this book I picked up at Shakespeare & Co. Enjoying my first Colette— just check out that cover! 🇫🇷 ☕️ 🇫🇷 #Paris #classics

For the first time in over a year, I have only one library book checked out*. It is surreal. Vivent les #vacancesfrancaises !

*I should say one physical book. Don‘t worry, I have a zillion and a half ebooks through #hoopla and #Libby— I won‘t run out of travel reading 😉

This was a good one to pick up after reading about the Nazi occupation of Paris, since this more modern story of neo-Nazis and murder in the Jewish neighborhood of Marais brings up so much of the past. #vacancesfrancaises #procedurals #dogsoflitsy

Listening today at the gym. So far this mostly shows how much everyone wanted to think the Nazi occupation would be short-lived, although few made many efforts to fight it. (I‘m sure those Resistance stories are coming; I‘m only 2hrs in.)

Also this is making me want to read Suite Française by Irène Nemirovsky. #vacancesfrancaises #audiobook

TracyReadsBooks I really enjoyed Suite Française. Definitely a book I would recommend! 6y

More reading in preparation of #vacancesfrancaises today. I was expecting more historical essays and less of a memoir from this one, but it‘s eminently readable, so I don‘t mind. Pairs well with white wine and the flânerie of an enclosed porch.

Baldwin is a master at his craft. I went into this knowing almost nothing about the book except that it‘s an #lgbt classic and set in Paris. I forget how delightful it is going in like this— everything is a discovery, like how big a role the title plays in the plot. #vacancesfrancaises #currentlyreading

CaitlinR Time to read it again. Thanks for the reminder. 6y

Shoe shopping was frustrating and unfruitful this morning, so I‘m consoling myself with pretty ebooks on #hoopla instead. Tagged book was my favorite of the three— I love the process of zeroing in on a color for travel pictures. #vacancesfrancaises

Working on my TBR for #vacancesfrancaises next month. There are plenty of books set in Paris, but I‘m having a harder time finding books about our other destination, Lyon. It‘s a center for French food culture, so the library catalog did lead me to these two culinary mysteries. I‘m about halfway through the tagged book and enjoying the local details (even if they‘re 25 yrs old now) but I‘m still not a huge fan of the cozy amateur detective trope.
