Yuriko decided it is time to change her name and leave her Japanese American identity behind when the kids at school make fun of her. Dad decides it‘s time to take his new daughter around to also of their favorite spots. I enjoyed this picture book and loved the gentle way dad supports Yuriko. I used this for my tree on cover prompt in #RushathonChristmasBingo. #Picturebook #Inclusivity

Dark chocolate all the way. I never liked white chocolate, and I don't have much of a taste for milk chocolate anymore.

Mounds is a favorite chocolate Halloween treat, followed closely by raisinets

I think that all 3 of my kids have read & loved this book (my oldest is 19). My 8 year old still thinks this is the best story. Poor Oscar the wiener dog just wants to have a spooky Halloween costume but instead he‘s a “wiener-dog.” #scarathon #BatBrigade

I scored points at a trivia game at work today for knowing the name of this "classic children‘s book that shares the name of a fall flower."
Got extra points because I knew Kevin Henkes wrote it. ?

An older story with a message still relevant today. Kids should be able to play with whatever toys they wants. Toys shouldn‘t be gendered. Girls can play with skateboards, and boys can play with dolls. A boy who learns how to care for a doll is preparing for being a father. ❤️

ALA Award Winner. This book is about a young mouse who's name is Chrysanthemum. She loves her name at first, until she goes to school. The kids in her class tease her every day and make her feel horrible for being named after a flower. She wishes she could change her name so much to something “normal“. One day she meets the new music teacher, who is also named after a flower. The children are stunned by this and they all learn to love her name.

This book is a great book to read to teach students to have confidence within themselves. It shows students that everyone is different and they should be proud of who they are no matter what.
