Man and His Symbols | Carl Gustav Jung

Pickpick

In a great example of Jung‘s “synchronicity,” I was reading this book as my partner and I began to watch Bill Moyers‘s series of interviews of Joseph Campbell in “The Power of Myth.” Both really struck a cord in emphasizing the need of truly acknowledging oneSelf (both the conscious and the unconscious, the latter thru dreams) and how a psyche well-met can point to useful parallels in the natural sciences, religion and one‘s life‘s meaning.

I‘m slowly coming out of “new parent hibernation”. We took a family trip to the bookstore, and this was my pick.

a novella that unfolds on the day Sputnik2 launches – but the real tension is domestic. Kathleen floats in a pool while her marriage teeters, while she quietly rebels against expectation. the symbolism is direct & sharp, showing what it means to break orbit in your own life. unsettling & a bit deceitful 🛰️🌏#tuesdaytreasure #uncommon #historicalfiction #literaryfiction #symbolism #shortbooks #novella

Pelleas et melisande | Maurice Maeterlinck

I don't need much persuasion to be listening to #Finland 's national composer, Sibelius, but as it's his birthday today, it seemed rude not to mindfully do so.
Sibelius derived his Pelléas et Mélisande suite from his incidental music for Maeterlinck's play about the doomed love of the title characters. The setting is a decaying castle deep in the forest, which fits the mood of the book I'm reading, "Gossip from the Forest".

Rapunzel | Jacob Grimm

I would NOT use this book in the classroom because it‘s is violent and not a nice fairytale. There are other versions of the Rapunzel that would be better suited to a classroom setting, such as the Disney additions.

I just got an Amazon delivery that said "liquids" on the package, which made me wonder whether Amazon can read minds (I wanted to order some alcohol for Christmas presents, but haven't yet).

Dear @CaroPi Thank you for the #HHS #HauntedHollowSwap package! The book sounds intriguing and I'm honestly amazed that it has rounded corners. The chocolate is perfect, especially since I've just made tea and was looking for biscuits. ?

julesG @wanderinglynn Thank you for organising the swap. 😘😘 12mo

CaroPi Sorry that I didn't send the proper package but glad that it arrived for Halloween. You didn't get a second book? I sent two of them 12mo

CaroPi Also since you read so much I wanted to play safe 😉that is why I decided the encyclopaedia 12mo
julesG @CaroPi No worries, it had that paper thingy inside. Just for a second I was uncertain whether I had ordered the alcohol already and plain forgot about it. The second one might appear in the next days. Or it came with a different delivery provider and is in my postbox - Amazon is weird like that. Will venture downstairs and investigate. The encyclopedia is a wonderful idea. I didn't even know this particular book existed, which is the beauty of 12mo
julesG Swaps. You get books you didn't have on your radar, but would have got for yourself. 12mo
CaroPi @julesG hello! according to Amazon you got the second book in Saturday. Can you let me know if is there? Worry about it 12mo
