Silva never disappoints. In this the 5th in the series, there are twists and turns a plenty. We also learn more about Gabriel‘s personal life. His books are more than thrillers ,they make you think about art , history, and the complexity of international relations.

Not only is the cover gorgeous it suits the story. Excellent historical fiction.

jenniferw88 I chose this one too! My Mum recently visited the Delft Museum in Amsterdam & bought me a bookmark that goes perfectly with this book... unfortunately my copy is on Kindle! 😂😂😂 2mo

ValerieAndBooks Not related to this post -- but I was wondering how you were able to show your LibraryThing profile info in your Litsy bio? When I saw that, I tried to see if I could link my LT in my bio (same username btw), but to no avail 🤔. 2mo
jenniferw88 @ValerieAndBooks i think you have to go to the LibraryThing website and link it there. It only shows up on Litsy's website, not the app at the mo. 2mo

This is my first experience with this author- and most likely my last. I only picked this one up at all for the #ReadAroundTheWorldChallenge. This month is #Cyprus and this book was listed- though I feel guilty for using it since really only a few scenes took place there- for the most part this was a globetrotting disappointment of a thriller involving the #ZealousZest of extremists, a lame medical mystery and cartoon characters. #AugustABC

After capturing an al Quadra bomb-maker in Canada, Scot Harvath heads to New York for the July 4th weekend. While he is catching up with an old friend, a terrorist attack on all the bridges and tunnels isolates Manhattan. There‘s a lot going on here, and I don‘t want to spoil it for anyone. It‘s very well paced and the plotting is quite intricate. However, there are a few minor in the plot for anyone that knows Manhattan. Still, it‘s a great read.

The premise was excellent. The execution had some flaws. Overall, pick. I'll likely read the second in the series.
