I tried adulting today with other adults. It didn't go well. Social anxiety? Situational stress? Neurodivergent overload? Take your pick! I bailed and came home again.
No more adulting today: books, cat, coffee and noodles it is (which, tbh, looks similar to what I would have been doing otherwise, but now with added mental exhaustion!)
Started and finished while donating plasma today. I almost feel like I need to read it again. This was a fast paced book, with lots to think about. This is definitely a conversation starter and thought provoking book for anyone who considers themselves feminists... especially if they‘re not in the 1%. #CinziaArruzza #TithiBhattacharya #NancyFraser #FeminismForThe99% #feminism #essays
3.5 Stars: Rating based on introduction and not actual manifesto. 80%+ is commentary on the (surprising to me) short manifesto by Marx. I found the introduction informative and it gave good backstory to what lead up to Marx‘s writing.
It was inspiring to hear from Senator Bernie Sanders, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and local candidates and activists in-person a few hours ago in Salt Lake City, along with 20,000 others. It's been 10 years since he first ran for President of the US and opened my eyes to the possibilities of democratic socialism. We're not surrendering to billionaire bullies! #FightOligarchy

Another book from the Pushkin Collection - this is a collection of short pieces by George Orwell of his observations on England and its sociology. Some pieces are well known (Shooting an Elephant) but it was the final piece of the book - The Lion and the Unicorn - that really captured me, as it is still applicable in many ways today as it was years ago. Warning: some outdated language common to the time in which it was written.
