SILVER SURFER and soup for supper! (So many S-things tonight.)

I still can‘t decide what kind of prose fiction I feel like, but I finished my nonfiction (ALL OF THE MARVELS by Douglas Wolk) and it left me with a terrible craving for Slott and Allred‘s SILVER SURFER (even though Wolk barely touched on it.) I‘m now two issues deep on this reread and I know I made a good choice.

The few times I‘ve read Silver Surfer stories, from any writer, the tone was of philosophical waxing, the weirdness of the Universe, and epic galactic stakes. This book pairs the alien with a young, human girlfriend, amidst relationship mishaps and ‘fish out of water‘ humor. I‘ve really enjoyed this tone in countless other books I‘ve reviewed here, but I feel it doesn‘t quite work for with this particular character.

1. This was hard because everything I love starts with S. (Okay, not everything. Just lots of things.) I went with Silver Surfer because I haven‘t mentioned it on here I‘m a while and IT‘S SO GOOD, Y‘ALL.

2. Magnetic control, because I‘ve read literally 99% of the X-Men comics in existence and they‘ve taught me magnets can do AN.Y.THING.

Ho-hum...Thanos gains the ultimate power, fights all of Marvel's superheroes, and destroys the universe...AGAIN!! Pretty much just a retread of the far superior Infinity Gauntlet series. 2 💥💥 out of 5

Soothing my Infinity War hangover with a little backstory

I can't seem to concentrate on prose, so I'm gonna read a little SILVER SURFER before bed. #comics

Continuing in my comic book vein, someone who is hungry and all-consuming is Galactus, who consumes world's with no regards to anyone or anything.

SILVER SURFER is my new favourite. It's good-hearted but not simplistic, and the art is tops. #comics
