❄️🌕Snow? Oh we got snow in CO! 12+ inches on Friday and another 4-5 this morning. And much, much more in the mountains.
❄️🌕I'm pretty cozy 95% of the time regardless of weather. 🙃 But on snow days I'm more apt to hunker down and watch a movie. Also drink hot chocolate with amaretto.
❄️🌕 Thanks for blessings and tag @BookwormAHN and @AlobelThee I'll pass them on to some new #Shakespearereadlong peeps @Panic70 @Carolyn11215 @Melismatic l

Meaw_catlady Sounds super cozy! Stay warm with all that snow! I‘m in souther CO so it‘s not as bad but been super chilly!! Blessings to you! 🖤😻 4y

readinginthedark I forgot you live in CO! I'm heading that way this summer; whereabouts do you live? 4y
merelybookish @readinginthedark We live in Lakewood which is a suburb west of Denver, close to the foothills. Where are you heading? 4y
readinginthedark South of Denver, I think. Englewood? You're really close! We're mainly going for a wedding but plan to leave a little extra time for other things. What should I do while I'm there? Two somewhat introverted adults, a 7yo, and a 1yo. 4y
merelybookish @readinginthedark Quite close! Ive only lived here 3 years so no expert. If you have a car, I'd suggest heading out to the mountains. Even Golden (about 20 mins) west of Denver is fun. Or Red Rocks is cool. The Denver zoo or Botanical Gardens is good for kids but can be hot in summer. 4y

Twelfth Night | William Shakespeare
post image

Welp #shakespearereadalong friends, I've come to a conclusion. I don't like reading Shakespeare's comedies. I suspected as much but Twelfth Night confirmed it. All the hijinks, jokes and plot devices annoy me. On the stage, I imagine they work and I would love to see a performance.
Also, turns out this movie is an adaptation. Anyone seen it? I'm intrigued, although based on the trailer, I suspect it's not great.
@readinginthedark @GingerAntics

MommyOfTwo I can‘t stand Amanda Bines so I‘ve never seen it 5y
tournevis Yes I've seen it. It's cute, nothing more. I suggest this version instead; it's closer to the original play and the actors are obviously having fun.

Kimberlone I love this movie! 5y

Kalalalatja I really liked this as a teen 👍 5y
GingerAntics I‘ve never heard of this. Hm. 5y
LibrarianRyan It is very much a teen movie. I liked it, but I like hose types of movies. It‘s not going to set the world on fire. 5y
TheLudicReader Twelfth Night is one of my least favourite plays by the Bard; however, She‘s the Man is awesome-sauce. Makes me lol every time I watch it. And my kids and I have watched it A LOT. 5y
merelybookish @MommyOfTwo I understand. I have a few of those actors 5y
merelybookish @tournevis Thanks for the recommendation! I do like Helena Bonham Carter. 5y
merelybookish @Kimberlone @Kalalalatja Good to hear! I was hoping it might be like 10 Things I Hate About You. 5y
merelybookish @GingerAntics I hadn't heard of it either. Although I'm not really the target demographic, even back in 2006. 🙂 5y
merelybookish @LibrarianRyan I like teen movies. I tend to be pretty forgiving. 5y
merelybookish @TheLudicReader Well that's quite an endorsement! I have to watch it now! 5y
readinginthedark I've only seen part of it, a long time ago, when I was in a stage of being judgy about teen movies. So...I feel like I should watch it again. I know a lot of people who love it! 5y
GingerAntics Oh I wasn‘t target demographic by 2006. That makes sense. 5y
TheBookHippie @MommyOfTwo 🤣🤣🤣🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 5y
TheBookHippie @GingerAntics 2006 happy to be in menopause 😂😂😂but wait I'm sorry it's not menopause you're pregnant let's see here okay I need to register you as geriatric mother ...so yah I missed this movie 😂😂🙌🏻🙌🏻🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ @merelybookish I would say the comedies are some good some bad! I love all the discussion though!! 5y
GingerAntics @TheBookHippie 🤣😂🤣 love they way you tell that story 5y
merelybookish @TheBookHippie I was pregnant in 2006 but wasn't geriatric till my next pregnancy in 2011. What a term! Really gives one a boost of confidence. 🙄 Yes I enjoy the discussion too and I know there's usually more going on than stupid mixups.and mistaken identities. But sometimes Im too annoyed to see past them. 5y
Bradleygirl She's the Man has SO MUCH to recommend it, not least in that it's more grounded (with fewer fools/duels) and an amazing cast. My favorite version 🤓 5y
batsy I have the same problem as @MommyOfTwo which is why I haven't seen this one, too 😆 Also, I love the varied reactions to this play...I loved it 😁 5y
merelybookish @Bradleygirl 👍to fewer fools & duels. 😀 5y
merelybookish @batsy I guess I'm too old to have developed an opinion about AM. 👵 And yes, lots of reactions! The #shakespearereadlong is keeping it 🌶️🌶️ 5y

merelybookish @AshleyHoss820 I'm re-reading for first time in a while. I like the verbal sparring but am iffy on the sexism. 🙂 6y

merelybookish @Cathythoughts yes, lots of ☀️☀️☀️But supposed to be 101 today. 🤤 6y
Cathythoughts Oh ! That‘s about 37 Celsius . Unknown of heat here ! It‘s 26 Celsius here today - I‘m baked alive ☀️🤤 (edited) 6y
Cathythoughts We are having a heat wave 🌊☀️☀️ 6y
AshleyHoss820 @merelybookish Considering the time in which it was written, it‘s not too bad! 😄🤣 I like the fact that outwardly, they show off the societal standard but within their marriage they are happy and treat each other as equals. That‘s pretty progressive for the 1500‘s! 😄 Enjoy your re-read and that gorgeous weather! I‘m jealous! I think I‘ll have to re-read that one today! 6y
merelybookish @Cathythoughts I don't love heat so find summer weather hard. I grew up in a foggy town by the Atlantic ocean where 20 degrees Celsius was hot! 😛 6y
merelybookish @AshleyHoss820 I'm only on Act III so things have been quite worked out yet. As yet Petruchio is a nutter and I feel bad for Kate. 😜 6y
AshleyHoss820 @merelybookish Someone being a nutter is my favorite insult! 😂😂😂 Have you seen 10 Things I Hate About You? 6y
merelybookish @AshleyHoss820 Oh yes! Lots of discussion amongst the #shakespearereadlong folks about how the play lives up to the movie. 6y
AshleyHoss820 @merelybookish Oh, awesome!! I love that flick! 😄 6y
