Something happens near the end of this book that I think is highly unbelievable; however, I still liked this story of second chances. I loved the characters and the parrots. Night #audiowalk today.

I‘ve got about 2 hours left in this book. Troy is a hateful one. It was quite chilly this morning. I even had to wear a jacket! #audiowalk

Because of this book, I am also simultaneously reading Spoon River Anthology, which I apparently never read in school. I‘m enjoying it too and am reminded of Lincoln in the Bardo. #audiowalk

It was 43° when I left the house this morning; it eventually got up to 74°. Still liking this book. #audiowalk

KathyWheeler @Suet624 Thanks. This is the Japanese garden just down the road from me. 1mo

I think I‘m going to like this book; I feel invested in the characters. I picked up my granddaughter from school, and we went for a walk by the bay and out to dinner for sushi (her) and ramen (me). What a lovely day! #audiowalk

kspenmoll Sounds wonderful! 1mo
shawnmooney Ooh, I can't wait to read this one. I adored her last novel, The One-in-a-Million Boy, and interviewed her about both books on my BookTube channel recently. You may or may not be interested in having a peek at that interview (she was a wonderful guest), but it starts at the 2:28 mark here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAfx7cA7Low. 1mo

I inhaled this on audio - the perfect book to listen to while I tackle chores and be lazy on a Monday
Violet is in jail for vehicular manslaughter and belongs to a book club, we meet all the book club members, the volunteer running bookclub and learn all their stories while they connect to the books they read

AnnCrystal 🤩🧩💝. 2mo

There's so many big concepts to discuss in this one; perfect for a book club. Violet is a recently released prisoner struggling with guilt and grief. Harriet is a widowed woman who leads a prison book club. Frank is a widower attempting to move on to a new future. The concept of forgiveness is a big one. Also, I kept thinking about the motherless daughters in the book: Sophie, Kristy, and Violet. Each one struggles with grief in a different way.

BkClubCare I loved this one! 2mo
AvidReader25 @BkClubCare yes! And I appreciated it even more after hosting a book club for it yesterday. So many fascinating things to discuss. 2mo
BkClubCare @AvidReader25 - good book discussion is a reward unto itself. 2mo

I really got into how this is not a typical main character… a bit unexpected framework of a story and it just worked. I don‘t think I‘ve ever rooted harder for a character before.

Bookish_Thoughts I‘ve had my eye on this one for awhile. 4mo
