It‘s hard to believe Clinton was only 54 when he left the White House. He came out of the experience ready to use his influence to making the world a better place. He‘s been involved in disaster relief, medical care in far flung countries w/ little resources. With his various foundations he has worked hard to seek out people who through their work can make a difference & passionate patrons to fund worthy endeavors. His insights into US politics 🔽
This is more of a coffee table book. Brief bios of the presidents from Washington to Biden. Completed with pictures and even briefer bios of the First Ladies and vice presidents. Good for very general reference.
For the last 7 years I‘ve read a biography based off a list The Washington Post published of the best bios for each president. I was eager to read about Jackson who is almost mythic in American history, &I was interested to see the presumed strengths of his presidency weighed against the weaknesses of his character. This book, unfortunately, didn‘t deliver that.Really disappointed in this rose-colored-glasses view of a man who didn‘t deserve them.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Life after presidency. This focuses largely on humanitarian efforts. Clinton also has many complimentary things to say about Hilary; as he should. Dude better spend the rest of his days making up for the humiliation of the cigar and blue dress (but I digress). He weighs in on the divisiveness of our current so-called democracy. Over all, a decent read, but some of the more minute details could‘ve been edited down for readability‘s sake.
Good, busy weekend, but started getting a scratchy throat yesterday. And this today. It's going to be a long week (and the next 208 weeks as well)...
