so-soPromising story, clunky execution. The book follows Helen McNutt from a young girl into marriage. She faces many challenges: a taciturn mother, the early death of her father, being forced to leave school to work in factory, an abusive marriage. And yet,Helen also finds ways to be happy and to triumph. It is a heartwarming story. AND the writing kinda sucked. 😬
