To Hell and Back | Lilith Saintcrow
post image
Pickpick

The 6th book I read in February is the 5th & final book in the Dante Valentine series. After being violated by Lucifer in Hell, Danny‘s dropped back in the real world with her mind & body scrambled, barely knowing her name let alone who to trust. A pawn in Hells war, she has to decide whether Japhrimel is on her side or if she on her own against both Lucifer & his daughter. #SeriesLove2024 #BacklistReadathon #ReadAway2024

Another one finished last week is Bk4 of the Dante Valentine series. After the betrayals in Bk3, Danny is called back to Saint City to help her oldest friend track down a murderer. She ends up losing way too much & is hunted by police for something she did not do while Lucifer has his hot dirty little fingers in nearly every pie. This book is not perfect but it is heartbreaking & well worth a read. #SeriesLove2024 #BacklistReadathon #ReadAway2024

The 3rd book in Dante Valentine is not my fave in the series but still a good read. After defeating the ‘ka‘ of her evil headmaster, Danny & Japhrimel have left Saint City to recover from the psychic damage to her mind. But Lucifer doesn‘t let go so easily & wants Danny to roundup 4 Demons for him. But everyone knows the Devil can‘t be trusted. For people who like dark, violent fantasy & don‘t mind a lot of swearing & hellraising. Like me! 👇

I finished this whole series last week but I‘m still having ups & downs with my health, which is honestly worse than being flat on my back constantly. Just when you think you‘re getting up it‘s WHAM! Sucks balls. But this book was great👍The 2nd Dante Valentine, Danny‘s struggling after the death of her mate with Lucifer double crossing her. But psychics are being murdered & it‘s all tied to the boarding school hell she lived through as a child.👇

TheAromaofBooks Sorry you are still not feeling your best!!!!! So frustrating!! 2mo
Lizpixie @TheAromaofBooks thanks lovely! It‘s the unpredictability that taking the biggest toll I think. 2mo

Andrew65 Health is a very frustrating thing especially when it seems tangible and then recedes gain. Sending best wishes, and positive energy. Well done on finishing this. 🎉🎉🎉 2mo

Lizpixie @TheSpineView @Rissreads @Read4life @DieAReader @Ruthiella Thank you all so much! I keep saying #LittensAreTheBestPeople and you keep proving me right. Love you all♥️ 2mo
Lizpixie @Andrew65 That‘s exactly it! I‘ve had 26yrs of putting up with this(well more really but dealing with SFPN in particular)but since COVID it‘s been 1000% worse. People don‘t realise what it can do long term, esp if you‘re already chronically ill. I heard you‘ve been struggling lately too, I‘m so sorry lovely. Hope you & your wife are doing the best you guys can, some days just getting out of bed is a huge accomplishment isn‘t it? Sending love♥️🇦🇺 2mo
Andrew65 @Lizpixie Yes, living with a chronic condition is so tough, and as you say COVID has only exacerbated these issues. Unfortunately it seems to have made others even more insensitive to sufferers. I say walk a mile in someone‘s shoes before you try to pass judgement. Ableism is everywhere these days. Sending love and best wishes, take things slowly and carefully, we are always here for each other. ❤️ 2mo
Lizpixie @Andrew65 I‘m so glad to have people who get it, even if they live so far away! Being able to open an app and talk to someone who‘s living through similar crap makes dealing with it so much easier. Thank you & every Litten who has made my day just that much easier to bear. I love you all so so much. 😘♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ 2mo

Working for the Devil | Lilith Saintcrow

Bk2 of February was the 1st in another Saintcrow series. It‘s fitting seeing as my year so far has been touched by the 😈I think this was her debut novel? Dante Valentine is a Necromance, minding her own business when the demon Japhrimel knocks on her door & tells her she has an appt with Lucifer. He wants her to track down an escaped demon by whatever means & gives her no choice in the matter. It‘s another dark & violent ride👍 #SeriesLove2024

This is book 2 of a duology. I read book 1 four years ago, and the Colorado library system never got book 2. I found it now in Alaska, but it is a direct sequel (like, set a day or two after the events of book 1), and I didn't remember enough to fully enjoy it. Also, while there were supernatural elements, it wasn't nearly as creepy as the first. I suspect it would be better reading them back-to-back, but this didn't work on its own.

underground_bks Normalize recapping the previous book in the series, publishing industry 🙏🏼 2mo
TieDyeDude Someone should make a wiki-style website where anyone can post and edit entries. I've seen a site or two with series recaps, but they are very niche (like one or two people recapping the books they like). 2mo

📚☺️💕📚💝.

Note:

The Old Kingdom books currently include:

Sabriel · Lirael · Abhorsen · Clariel · Goldenhand · Terciel and Elinor.

Plus some shorts.

Branwen I keep meaning to read this series! It looks fantastic! 💕📚 3mo
AnnCrystal @Branwen 👏I love this series. My absolute favorite. ☺️👍. The only work I've read by Garth Nix as of yet. Oh, he's a magical storyteller! I still need to read Terciel and Elinor. (edited) 3mo

This was by far my favorite in the series. 4.80 stars this series gets a 4.75 stars from me!!

kwmg40 I loved this series too. My daughter and I read the series years ago, when she was a teen, and we had a chance to meet Kelley Armstrong then too at a local book event. 3mo
