Underworld: A Novel | Don DeLillo
post image
Pickpick

I adore DeLillo's writing. I loved the opening of this novel, describing the final moments of a famous baseball game as witnessed by real life people. It kept me guessing how much of the many other interwoven plotlines were also real. I loved the balancing of so many plotlines, maintaining my interest in the baseball, in learning what crime Nick committed, what was the relationship with Klara, what happened to the nameless Bronx girl. It is epic.

arubabookwoman I loved Underworld many years ago, and want to reread. Also loved Libra. Haven‘t been thrilled with his other books I‘ve read. 6y

I wish I‘d liked this book more, because the idea of traveling the country for a year and a half to visit every vegan restaurant in existence sounds amazing. While the premise is interesting, the story is more of a memoir of moments that aren‘t all related to the vegan food being eaten. I found the trajectory a bit non-linear.

Somewhere between a pick and a so-so. 3.5 ⭐️

Ok, so I‘ve been reading this for just over a day and my significant other is already sick of me popping my head up and saying “Did you know...?!”. 🤣 He‘s at least still responding and occasionally pretending to be interested. I‘m totally captivated! #litsyreadingchallenge #lrc1 #themoreyouknow

MinDea Interested! 6y
emilyhaldi Oh good! I bought this earlier this year and haven't been compelled to try it yet... Was afraid I might be bored. Glad to hear that not the case for you! 🍸 6y

This book is fabulous! I‘m really enjoying it so far. This is the last book on my list for the three reading challenges I participated in (not including my goodreads goal). I can‘t wait to learn more! And my Sherlock bookmark from a prior #nerdypost box seemed quite appropriate. My holidays will be filled by me spouting off facts about booze. 😉 #litsyreadingchallenge #lrc1

#TBRtemptation post 9! This recent release sounds fascinating. He posits that traditional agriculture and the industrial-food companies are severely limiting our palates, and for the worse nutritionally. He meets seaweed harvesters, road kill foragers, botanists, oyster farmers, & others, to see how independent food producer outliers expand our diets and how they'll impact the future of our meals. Sounds eye-opening! #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Natasha.C.Barnes This would be good for the #litsyreadingchallenge #lrc1 I believe... 7y
