Doing some errands/audio walking this AM, which includes parting with this great book and sending it to my mother Upstate. She‘s taking a class at the local college about white privilege and how to foster better communication - I was surprised it wasn‘t already on the curriculum! 🥰🤗🙌🏻

Emilymdxn What a fantastic idea for a course! Awesome that your mum is doing that. I hope she likes the book! 3w
Melismatic @Emilymdxn right? I wish they had courses like that when I was in college! 🥰 3w

Here's my #Top10oftheDecade #NonFictionEdition Many of these books changed the way I view the world.

4thhouseontheleft I‘ve read half of these! And the other half are on my TBR. Have you read Just Mercy or The New Jim Crow? Looking at this list, I think you would like both of those. (edited) 1mo
Eggbeater @4thhouseontheleft I haven't read those. I will check them out. Thanks! 1mo

Accessible and direct. Could also be titled, “Shit White People Need to Know.”

This is a good book. It was hard for me to read at times because of my own history and personal bias. I learned many things through this and will continue thinking about it for a long time. It was very helpful in practical sorts of ways. It is good to read things that make me uncomfortable.

Accessible, straight-forward account of how race and racism permeate our society, and how to talk about it (especially if you're white). Digestible chapters with actionable suggestions. Recommend.
