#Book Report #SaturdayDec7 #nonfiction #holidaycheer #mysteryoftheweek
Say Nothing: #nonfiction only got to p. 206
Maigret Chritmas : #holidaycheer finished my first introduction to this series- such fun! His character is great.
The Disappearance of Alistair Ainsworth: #mystery of the week. Don‘t know why I felt compelled to finish- may because I enjoyed other books by the same author. Would not recommend- I found it boring.

Cinfhen So your books balanced each other a yeah and a nah 4y

Such a chilling, s-l-o-w-l-y- build up of suspense in this short story (Cask of Amontillado).

Slow going with this book. Not enjoying it -
But rather than bailing, wanting to see the ending.

Crazeedi I'm thinking thumbs up for the pizza though ! Looks yummy! 4y
kspenmoll @Crazeedi You predicted correctly; pizza yummy, book meh...not so good. 4y

#BookReport
Say Nothing: on p. 176
The Ruin: audio, finished
The Disappearance of Alistair Ainsworth: p. 71, library Book so reading this rather than the Cara Black mystery.

Suet624 Oh wow. I really, really liked Say Nothing. 4y
Cinfhen 👍🏽looks good 4y
kspenmoll @Suet624 I am totally engrossed & loving this book. I keep thinking: Where was on when all this was going on? Why was I so oblivious? I just remember the names Gerry Adams & Bobby Sands. No clue about Hughes or the Price sisters. I am learning so much. 4y
kspenmoll @Cinfhen I think it‘s doable. No expectations! Just read on. 4y
Suet624 Same here. I thought I knew so much about it too! 4y

#fridaymorning #coffeesndbooks
Slept in this post Thanksgiving morning. Scone & coffee from a Barbara Pym mug. She was one of my mother‘s favorite authors.
Needed a small break from Say Nothing, so starting this library book.
Happy Friday everyone!

Mehso-so

Disclaimer: This is third in series but MY introduction to Joanna (Sherlock Holmes‘ daughter). So, to be fair, I might have enjoyed it more with previous books under my belt. While I did expect her character to be logical and a bit stilted, I found the writing and the characters overall to be dry and not as engaging and in-depth as I had hoped. The plot, involving German spies, a British traitor and coded messages was fine, but I feel like ⬇️

robinb maybe I should go back and start from the beginning of the series...maybe I would get more out of these characters. For now, I give this a 3/5⭐️. Out 6/11 (edited) 5y
revenge4porgy Do read the first book it‘s great 5y
robinb @revenge4porgy thanks for the advice! Good to know and will do. 👍😊 5y
revenge4porgy Dear Littens quick question I‘m looking for a book recommendation for my eleven year old niece she loves Rick Riordan, JK Rowling. Is she too young for a book like The Time Machine? Or To Kill A Mockingbird? Somebody recommended Eragon to me for her. 5y
