I tested positive for Covid yesterday after somehow managing to avoid it so far. I‘m hoping to use my time resting to chip away at this book, or maybe read some more Hallmark-y Christmas stories. #winterreadathon

LeahBergen I hope you have an easy go of it! ❤️ 3d
IndoorDame This season has been brutal! Rest well ❤️ 3d

#WinterReadathon Book 1 @Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES
I never knew of Lucile Ltd, a designer at the turn of the 20th century. This tells of her rise from a middle class family to become a designer that rivalled Worth and other Parisian houses. It was worth the read, especially if you enjoy descriptions of fabrics, colors and design. The ending left a bit to be desired however

Andrew65 Well done 🎅🎅🎅 Sounds interesting. 6d

Pemberley Revisited | Emma Tennant

Hello #Pemberlittens! I am pleased to announce that myself and @BarkingMadRead will be co-hosting the group once @sprainedbrain steps down. We know we have ginormous shoes to fill come January but we‘re both so excited to keep our group and the spirit of Jane alive. @BarkingMadRead is hosting a buddy read of MiddleMarch and for our other group read, we thought it might be fun to read something Jane-adjacent. Below is the poll to vote⬇️

StayCurious I will tag some of you that have been #pemberlittens. Please share this post with anyone who might be interested and of course let me know if you‘d like to be removed from the tag list. If you have any suggestions, don‘t hesitate to reach out to me at lebretonr87@gmail.com 1w
PageShifter You wished to tell if someone will be removed from the list but I love to be rebellious so I would love to be added to the list. And I voted already, without permission ;) 1w

The Call of the Wrens | Jenni L Walsh
post image

This is a fabulous look at the role of the WRENS (Women' Royal Naval Service) during both WWI and WWII. Told through the lives of two women, and during two timelines that eventually intersect, it featured two strong and brave women who worked as dispatch riders on motorcycles. There is a also a bit of romance. I really enjoyed the story and loved that I came away knowing more about the role of women during the both wars. 4.5/5 stars.

Dawnlands: A Novel | Philippa Gregory

I also got these beauties for my birthday!

• I LOVE Philippa Gregory and this is the third book in her incredible Fairmile Series. I‘ve been re-reading the second book (Dark Tides) while waiting for this release and I‘m SO excited to read it.

• I‘ve had Powers and Thrones at the top of my wishlist since before the hardback was released a year ago. I really wanted a paperback, and it just released last week. I LOVE Medieval History so much.

In the Shadow of a Queen | Heather B Moore

This fictionalization of Princess Louise, a daughter of Queen Victoria‘s, a sculptor, and activist is a fascinating woman who lived both within and without the confines of her time and role as a royal child.
