HeathHof Hey everyone👋 I am behind on sending out my book. I apologize but I have Covid and haven't been able to make it to the post office. 😑 Thankfully I haven't touched it since way before I got sick so its germ free. Itll be about another week before I'll be able to send out gods in Alabama @LauraBeth @sharread 2y

Looks like we have our slate for #LMPBC #groupS13! After seeing what others chose, I decided to go with The Indigo Girl. I will begin reading The Indigo Girl on Nov 1 and will have it in the mail to the person after me on the mailing list that @suvata sent out.

I usually use green ink pens—what colors will everyone else choose? We should each have a different color to tell each other‘s notes apart.

LauraBeth Looking forward to it! 3y
sharread These are some awesome reads. Can't wait to start. 🎃 3y
HeathHof I'll go with purple for this round. 🖊 3y

#LMPBC #groupS13 Have we figured out our books? I‘m still on the fence between two — not sure whether the rest of the group has firmly settled on a book yet?

HeathHof It's a go for Gods in Alabama for me👍 3y
sharread Oh this is nice, thank you for doing this. Can't wait to see the other 2 final picks. ❤ 3y
LauraBeth Let‘s go with for me 3y
LauraBeth Also - do we need to read “our” picks first and then mail it? (edited) 3y
HeathHof @LauraBeth Yes, we read our pick first and then send it on. Looking forward to all these good books everyone is choosing!😁 3y

#LMPBC #groupS13 6 options for Southern lit! I will tag as many as I can in comments Hot Hot Chicken takes place in TN and is nonfic.

HeathHof Ooh, these all sound good! Top three would probably be The invention of Wings, Hot Hot Chicken and The Indigo Girl but I'd be happy to read any of them. 3y
sharread These look amazing. I'm open any you pick. I haven't read any of them either. 3y

#LMPBC #groupS13 What makes a book ‘Southern‘? Is it fiction or nonfiction, does it take place in certain areas or have certain characters? I have a range of ideas but I want to make sure I am not barking up the wrong tree. I‘m so looking forward to this round!

HeathHof I'm thinking stories that are set in the south, or with characters from the south or even written by southern authors, fiction or non. We can make this as broad as you all want😁 3y
sharread You're barking up the wrong tree? I'm assuming that's a typo or could be my brain farting again. 🤣🤣🤗🤗 3y
mrsmarch @sharread Disconnect between brain and thumbs....watching my 4 year old bicycle in the school yard with one eye and hoping she doesn't crash in to anyone! 3y

sharread When I do a Google search it's seems to be the location or some type of historical event. I'm thinking what Heather just said. Like Interview with the Vampire (one of my favs) is in New Orleans. So that's considered it. ❤❤❤ 3y
mrsmarch @Mynameisacolour I had a short list of 6 books in mind, 4 fiction and 2 nonfiction, 1 in TN, 3 in SC, and 2 in NC. Only 1 is over 400 pages, and it's one of the nonfiction books at 416 so probably the last 30-40 pages will be end notes. :D @sharread @laurabeth 3y
HeathHof Sharon, I loved Interview with the Vampire. Both the book and the movie . @mrsmarch Fantastic, I've got 4 and they are all fiction, I'll post them here in just a second. @sharread @LauraBeth 3y
LauraBeth I think Southern Lit can be defined in multiple ways: geography, history, culture, voice, perception, etc. Basically, anything that explores the dynamics, ironies and complex socioeconomic and cultural histories of the South. I‘m open to pretty much anything! 3y
sharread @Mynameisacolour Do we have to have 4 people? 3y
sharread @LauraBeth Are you a Librarian? That was a perfect definition. ❤❤❤ 3y
