A lite supper on a very hot day, (we have a heat advisory for the next three days, temps 100°F or higher ?) and the last few pages of the summer edition of the Slightly Foxed Quarterly (I try to stretch out each issue, sometimes this is a monumental feat, since it demands to be gobbled up.)

catebutler @UwannaPublishme Fortunately, I have central air, or it definitely would be miserable. I have a hunch I‘ll be staying indoors with a book and cool drink at all times. 😅 4y

Some of my very favourite flowers have arrived with the new season - french anemone & ranunculus. It was with sheer joy, I hemmed & hawed over each bright bunch, settling finally on a beautiful coral for the ranunculus & cheery raspberry for the anemone. They are happily residing on a little side table next to my reading chair. Another seasonal joy, a fresh issue of @foxedquarterly has just arrived on the stoop. #foxedquarterly #slightlyfoxed

catebutler @BibliOphelia I just had to look up the plural after your comment. So intriguing! 🤔 I guess it would be ‘ranunculuses‘ or ‘ranunculi‘. I think ranunculi sounds better, don‘t you? They‘re my favourite too, and I guess anemones are actually part of the ranunculaceae family. Probably why I love them too! 5y

🦊Is anyone else enjoying the latest Slightly Foxed edition as much as I am?! I had no idea Ian Fleming's older brother was such a cad and jerk!

I was curious how I'd like these and hesitated on a subscription. I was thrilled to find this copy at a bookstore while on vacation. And now I see their allure and a subscription is in my future. Such great stuff!

Jess_Read_This @ScientistSam It's a quarterly magazine published in the U.K that has authors/contributors discuss lesser known or forgotten works. Some contributors are well known and others less known that write personally about books they love and return to. It is a literary magazine. They also publish books too! Their website is great to peruse. 7y
