Such a unique way to address grieving in a middle grade story.
Jimmy is told to give a speech at his cousin‘s funeral. The problem: He can‘t think of a single thing to share — without making something up. See, Patrick ruined every event he and Jimmy shared. But was there something Patrick was trying to say? And no one was listening? While attending the wake, Jimmy thinks back on time with Patrick, scrambling for something nice to say. #huggable

Went to the library to get my daughter some of her BOB books. No luck there, but I found some new books. The first three I picked up .... stories about grieving — all middle grade 😢. This is the one I decided to try first.

This elegantly written, haunting book, speaks to many issues within the context of a deep friendship, begun with a tennis game, between two men,one of whom is a recovering addict.Their friendship is interrupted & ultimately cut short when the “beast” of addiction or as Verghese names it, “a disease of the soul”,rears its head.

BarbaraBB It is the first time i hear of this one but it sounds good. 6y
kspenmoll @BarbaraBB It took me a few chapters to really get into it, but once engaged I could not put it down! 6y

A perfect summary of Austrians and a book that honestly made me cry at the end of it. Thomas Bernhard is as wonderful as he sounds dull
