I bought 3 of this series now just read the 1st one. Epictetus was a slave but puts forth ideas that we enslave ourselves w/ our ideas.Being troubled by people who have wrong ideas about us , worries about things that might happen.Similar ideas he shares with zen about attachment & desires for their own sake can be a trap for the mind . This series looks to translate great ideas from philosophy in digestible portions.Great glossary & introduction

Leftcoastzen Princeton University Press . Small hardcovers.I believe it is a great thought to get philosophy out there in more digestible bits.Some philosophy titles are still textbook like. 2mo

Just starting A Manual for Living, also called Enchiridion (or Manuel d‘Épictète in French). I found it second-hand last month and I really want to read more pre-modern classics. It‘s looking like the book is 10% Epictetus, 90% introduction and commentary. Looking forward to this.
