As a Croatian I thought there was a lot of history in here that I was unaware of (confirmed with my aunt) but it was so so slow in the beginning. The middle and end definitely pick up speed and pull you in quickly!!

Continuing my TBR project:
This is one the oldest selection on my TBR list - Originally added December 16, 2015.
Ana is a college student in New York in 2001. She is haunted by her memories of the 1991 Yugoslavian civil war that that took place when she and her family lived in Croatia. This is a powerful coming-of-age story about the impact of war on a family. This debut novel is beautifully written and memorable.
I can't really say that I would recommend this one. 😞

Got this in a haze in a charity yard sale last week, read it and redonated it to another charity before I thought to take a photo. It was a tough week. Hence the stock photo!
I liked this over the Tony Hill series (aka Wire in the Blood). It felt more grounded, and the protagonist was more my kind of person. I‘ll be looking up the others.
(You do that “buy, read, redonate” thing too, right? Right?)
If you scroll down from the US states visited map, you‘ll see this one for Europe. I currently don‘t have plans to travel to #Poland but it‘s on my list! #letstravelaugust
