Thanks to @TheBookHIppie, I found this one on Audible, which he read. Coincidently my husband was talking about him the other day. So, I am sure he wants me to wait to listen with him -- but I needed an #AudioCommute book (to and from work, about 25-30 min each way), so I will start this one today.

Thanks for the recommendation! I loved his show :)

We watched the show and had to get the book after trying out four of the recipes. Today we tried the meatloaf roll, which was done about 10min before the postie brought the #BookMail.

TheBookHippie I love her. Her recipes are wonderful! 3mo
julesG @TheBookHippie I really enjoyed the show. Love her attitude towards cooking and ingredients and how to save time. 3mo
TheBookHippie @julesG I‘ve watched both Netflix shows of hers a few times!!! She‘s so zen. Her attitude is a gift! 3mo

#MtCookbook Week 2
I had the this out all Dec, planning to try different things through the holidays. Ha! The first recipe I tried this week - Cheese Pie with Chestnut Pastry, Brussels Sprouts, & Hazelnuts
Holiday comfort food, the flavors were a bit reminiscent of Thanksgiving. I had my doubts on the all-butter chestnut crust, but it actually had quite a good crisp, tender crumb. It was more of a creamy Brussels sprout & onion, than a cheese pie.

mabell Next year, I‘ll try more! Like - Chocolate, Cardamom, Pistachio Topped Cupcakes or Plum Pudding - flamed! 🧯 3mo
Tamra Ooooooo that looks scrumptious! Everything to love about comfort food. 3mo
janeycanuck That pie looks gorgeous! 3mo

mabell @Tamra @janeycanuck Thank you! I don‘t know that this will be a repeat recipe, but it was fun! And felt like an accomplishment 🤣 I think the chestnut pastry would make a good quiche crust, now that I think about it. I may have to give that a try! 3mo

batsy Looks delicious! 3mo
mabell @batsy @Gissy It was every bit as rich as it looks, and a unique wintry recipe to try! Though you do have to be in the mood for Brussels sprouts 😂 3mo
Gissy @mabell I like Brussels sprouts, it is something I eat regularly 😋 3mo
TheBookHippie I love Brussels spouts! This looks good. 3mo
mabell @TheBookHippie It was definitely holiday comfort food - rich savory pie! And if you love Brussels sprouts, you‘d enjoy it! 3mo

Well, this popped up on my Instagram & made me very sad this morning. Aussie Chef, Bill Granger passed away yesterday at age 54. I have three of his cookbooks in my collection & he seemed like such a lovely person. Gone way too soon. 💙😥

“Roy's sauce mixes the five tastes- sweet, sour, bitter, salty, savory-with aromatics.“ This is an example of one of the captions in the book.

I found this book really interesting in the illustrations as well as the way to was written. I think it brought the perfect blend of cultures and how it can creat a beautiful thing. I recommend this book to students who are learning about America and what it means to be American.

Pickpick

This book is a biography of Chef Roy Choi. He is from South Korea and uses his culture and the L.A. culture to 'remix' and combine them together creating a new and yummy combination. This book uses lots of different captions to describe food that is from Chef Roy's culture as well.
