You could use this book to focus on how the illustrator created the pictures. With that, the students could draw what is around their house in that format (bright colors, blocky objects, etc)
pickThis book is a story about CJ and his Nana making their way back home. The illustrations are blocky drawings that use various bright colors to depict how the author feels about the journey back home -happy. This book talks about loving where you grow up and appreciating the things around you.
This story would be good to read aloud with different voices and sound affects.

This story is about a pigeon who really wants to drive a bus, and he talks to the reader through speech bubbles begging to let him drive. Most illustrations are just of the pigeon, but small changes in detail affect the emotion pigeon is showing. I like how in the beginning and ending pages there is a pigeon hiding in the print.
