This was okay.
Actress Diane Keaton explores her relationship with her mentally ill, alcoholic brother.
A short audiobook that I'm glad to be done with.

This book was quite interesting and I'd give it about a 7.5/10. It was a tad verbose with some rambling that was uninteresting at times. But the overall premise of the book was promising, the flow was good, and the ending was satisfying. A classic addition to any psych section of a home library; subcat mood disorders/mental health autobios
Pretty interesting when an esteemed professor of psychiatry finds herself dealing with the very mood disorders she teaches. Will she follow her own advice as a brilliant mind, or will she fall subject to the variable highs and lows of manic depression. It is a very interesting read for anyone who has been touched by a friend or family member with depression/mania
Book 44 of 2023! So many thoughts about this one. Definitely creepy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As a person with bipolar II, I found this memoir to be highly relatable. I want my husband to read it so he understands me a bit better. There needs to be a trigger warning though for suicide attempt.
(2015) Memoir of an Olympic runner who became a Vegas escort. She presents her choices through the lens of bipolar disorder, and her sex work as an extended manic episode. But with minimal reflection on mental illness and even less on recovery, the message seems to be that illness is fun and treatment sucks. Which makes the book feel less like a product of recovery than an artifact of her symptoms, and reading it feels uncomfortably voyeurist.
How is it June already?! And my first born turns 8 tomorrow?! Life is moving so fast - thank goodness for #bookspin and the kickoff of summer reading!
