“'Only five books tonight, Mommy' she says.
'No, Olivia, just one.'
'How about four?'
'Two.'
'Three.'
'Oh, all right, three. But that's IT!'“

I would very much enjoy reading this book to a group of children. There is so much to relate Olivia's day with a typical day for a child. In addition, we can have a conversation about why everything Olivia touches is red. We can talk about how much of an impact Olivia has on the things around her. And then we can relate this back to the students and how the things they do or touch make an impact on the world around them too.

“Olivia“ was written by Ian Falconer and was published in 2000. This is a book that talks about Olivia the Pig and her day-to-day life with her family. The illustrations make this book really interesting because everything that Olivia touches or is wearing is red, while the rest of the book is black and white. Another interesting aspect about the illustrations is her brother is always wearing a black and white striped shirt, besides at the beach.

“As soon as she gets home she gives it a try“ This part is funny because she does something shes not supposed to do and can make children laugh.

I would use this book with any classroom when talking about their own routine and different parts of their day that might bring them joy or even make them upset!

“Olivia“ by Ian Falconer was published in 2000 and won the Caldecott award in 2001. It is just about a little pig named Olivia and her day with all the things she loves... and all the things she doesn't like. It is great for students to see something they might relate to in the book and this book has many different parts that might be relatable.
