I fully recommend this book! I was engaged the entire book while trying to figure out what happened to Izzy's son. And I still did not figure it out until I was reading the end of it. So many twists and lots of negative family history that effects Isabel during this story.

This had so much potential, but I found the plot all over the place and a little sloppy.
I could not warm to Izzy, I sympathised with her after having her child taken from her but she was not likable at all. Quite an emotional book.
Trigger warnings for psychosis, death of a child, kidnapping, suicide, depression and more.

I kinda left this book on the back burner as my Libby app kept assaulting me with holds that I thought were weeks away and then they all come at once. Isabelle Drakes son Mason is missing and a year later she meets up with a podcaster to help potentially solve the case. Unreliable narrator, crappy husband, creepy neighbors, a haunted past. Who is really responsible for Mason going missing?

This was great! An very engaging thriller, lots of twists & turns. A quick, bingeable read.

5feet.of.fury After reading so many long dense fantasy novels lately, and gearing up for another one (90 minutes till CC3) I was so glad to read a domestic thriller, no world building, it‘s just some neighborhood in SC. 3mo

vivastory Terrific list! I have a boxset with the Patrick Melrose novels that I keep meaning to read, I read Hotel Du Lac last year & loved it. It was my first Brookner, def won't be my last. A lot of books here high on my TBR, esp the Shipstead & the Anne Tyler. Sorry to hear about the insomnia (As a fellow insomniac, I can empathize) (edited) 3mo
TheBookHippie @vivastory insomnia is 😵‍💫 so sorry you suffer as well. I‘m looking at everyone‘s list moving books up the list as well! So many good ones. I love this hashtag you started! 3mo
vivastory @TheBookHippie I've loved seeing the thoughtful posts (added several to my TBR as well) 💙 I have suffered from insomnia since I was in high school so in a way I am used to it & it helps a lot that I have a flex schedule (unless I have an early morning appt) but also it can be frustrating, for sure 3mo
TheBookHippie @vivastory I‘ve had it since 6th grade. 😵‍💫 I worked third shift nursing for decades before switching to my literacy reading advocation which is on my schedule, thankfully. It‘s comforting not comforting to know someone else who has had it a long time. ♥️ 3mo

This book was excellent. I could not put it down every time I picked it up. The writing and story both were perfectly constructed and kept me guessing until the end. The author really did a great job of not only telling a story, but using her words to truly make the reader become emotionally invested in the characters and the outcome. Full of twists and turns, this book is a page turner and definitely worth picking up.

Great idea for a collection of poems and stories about the night, but a disappointing execution. This read like a project compiled by a college student who, well, burnt the midnight oil, pulled an all nighter and haphazardly tossed a bunch of things together. Some of the stories and poems were ok and on theme, but a lot of them seemed random, nothing to do with the night and overall a boring selection. But glad to finally get this off my shelves🌛
