Blerg. Just didn't do it for me. Won't give anything away here, but spoiler bar in the comments if you're interested. #unpopularopinion

rachelm First off, the blurbs about "oh the twist!!!!" were the only thing that kept me reading, so my expectations were artificially raised. Second, I think I've read too many sleep-related thrillers lately because they're losing their appeal. The whole lucid dreaming thing, okay. The bodiless floating thing? A little too convenient a trope to hang the whole plot on. 7y

MyNamesParadise @rachelm the lucid dreaming didn't bother me either- it was outside the box but not a complete turn off and then the switching bodies like its freaky Friday?!? No just NO 7y

Mimi28 I bought the book just because of the hype and only got a few pages in and set it aside. The relationship was so grim from the first page. 7y

Hooked_on_books I enjoyed it but had no expectations going in and very much suspended reality. I totally get your reaction. 7y

so-so

I also forgot to review this the other day: it was a great ride until the end, and the ending was only #wtfthatending because of misleading. And not in the usual way... I understand why the hype and won't go as far as saying it was bad, it was good, but the ending felt like the author tried TOO hard to make it unforeseeable. I hate it when I feel like that with an author, for that... only a so-so. Not GREAT, but not awful.

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @minkyb If you read it, you may not regret it. I have really seen a lot of people like it, but I have also seen people hate it so much they refuse to read her ever again. And then there are a few like me that are just meh about it. 7y

MyNamesParadise Yo this got a BAIL from me, one star on Goodreads and I tried to get the hashtag #FuckThatEnding trending but no success. I will never read anything from that author again! As you can see I still have some feelings regarding that book 😜 7y

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @MyNamesParadise haha it didn't make me that turned off, but definitely will be wary if I ever get another of her books. But, I am sure she had to expect that some people would be really upset. I mean, it isn't labeled "paranormal" and a LOT of people would not choose a thriller if it is paranormal in any way... 7y

MyNamesParadise @BooksTeasAndBookishThings exactly!! Talk about false advertising!! The publisher is as much to blame! If not more so. Only time I've ever thrown a book across a room. Thankfully it was a giveaway from Goodreads- so it didn't cost me anything! 7y

MyNamesParadise @BooksTeasAndBookishThings exactly! There were ways to end it in a satisfying way but in the real world!! I feel like the publisher wanted to have a success with the next "it" book and pushed her towards this ending maybe, but that's violating the first rule of fiction writing: don't switch genres in the last 5 pages!!! 7y

MyNamesParadise @Anovelobsession I absolutely hated the ending! Ruined the entire book for me! Rule 1 of fiction writing-don't switch genres at the last second just to have an ending that's shocking. Well of course it was shocking bc it wasn't advertised as a supernatural novel but as a realistic psychological thriller!! What irks me is that there were ways to end this with a REALISTIC ending. Author broke my trust. I'll never read another book by this writer!! 7y

My_novel_obsession @MyNamesParadise I agree...that's what got me. I thought I was reading one kind of book and then the author threw in a twist from a completely different type of book. It felt like cheating. 7y

MyNamesParadise @Anovelobsession it was cheating!! It's not fair! What sucks is that it was so addicting up until like the last 5 pages. I was so mad! I gave it a one star review on Goodreads. False advertising in this manner is NOT acceptable. Definition of a mind-fuck. The trending hashtag was #WTFthatending. I made a new hashtag my own called #FuckThatEnding 😏 7y
