Mehso-so

Not as fast paced as the first one & I found Elwen to be an irritating character so I was glad when she finally died. It's a shame it doesn't pick up exactly from the end of the last book because I would like to read Will's negotiation to bury his father's body. I did like that you get different people's perspectives & stories throughout, it rounded out the characters even more. I would read it again but it felt like a set up for the final book.

Pickpick

The second book in this trilogy is very good.
What an ending! It‘s 1274 and there‘s a lot of betrayal in the air. Who can be trusted? Times are changing, and so are the leaders of different countries, and it seems to get worse. Peace is no longer an option and dark times are upon the world. Can‘t wait to read the last book in the trilogy!

EadieB You are a reading machine. You amaze me in how fast you read. (edited) 4y
Andrew65 A great review and yes @EadieB Tove reads so fast! 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 You are pretty fast too. I've been busy getting rid of my physical books and haven't had much time to read. 4y

Tove_Reads @EadieB @Andrew65 Luckily I‘m good at something. I guess speed reading is not a bad thing to be good at! When will you read this book? 4y
Andrew65 @EadieB Not in Tove‘s league. 4y

I was so thrilled to read the first book of the Brethren trilogy, but this, the second book, did unfortunately not live up to my expectations. There were some bits that were just far too drawn out, but I must say that the ending did keep me reading for 5 hours straight!
All in all not a good book, but not horrible either. If you're into historical, complicated stories about the crusades, then I can recommend it, but otherwise not.
