I just wanted to post an acknowledgement for a fellow Litten. I might be mistaken, but I'm fairly certain that the #covercrush #7covers7days originated with @Cinfhen It's been incredible watching how quickly it caught on & the enthusiasm for it has been remarkable. I've been on Litsy for nearly 3 years & don't recall another hashtag getting as much love as this one. Well-done Cindy!

Day 24 of the @bookriot #Riotgrams Challenge: oversized book! I like big books and I cannot lie: I have a LOT of large books, mostly about art. These are closest to where I‘m sitting (because it‘s Saturday and I‘m lazy lol.) 📚

Kidd cites The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion as his only pleasant experience working with a musician. I had the enormous privilege of seeing JSBE live several years ago.

Have you read this one @merelybookish ? Kidd describes it as, "your average science-fiction thriller about Thomas Jefferson."

Kidd's design for Indiana's book about the Versace murder. Might have to read this before watching American Crime Story.

I'm loving this collection of Kidd's book designs.

The cover fired as much attention as the book. People talked about it everywhere I went. "What, ahem, do you, think...?" Trying not to offend. "A bit bright..." "Not exactly Knopfian..." Some Pleistocene rigidity was apparently jarred by color. "It certainly jumps off the shelves," they'd concede. Then there was that five-legged borzoi. Nervous giggles among the famous over that. The alphabet had its own fans. "No two letters alike!" they'd ?

#RiotGrams, Day 19: Today's prompt is "art and illustration.” Chip Kidd is a GENIUS! This is the first collection of his art. He‘s a legendary jacket designer. You‘ve seen his work a million times and not realized it. (Jurassic Park, The Secret History, Murakami...) He‘s my favorite cover designer. Besides Henry Sene Yee. Next time you read a physical book, take a moment to look at the jacket art credits. Those artists work hard! ???

This is a little horizon-broadening reading project: 1) take a Strand bag with all the authors written on it. 2) put every author you've never read anything from in a cup (fair amount in my case), 3) make the selection and no picking another until you've read something from that author. The verdict....Chip Kidd! Looks like he's got a couple novels but wondering if I should get a retrospective if his graphic design work instead.

Today was my second visit to the Book Farm in Coventry. I picked up this little lot for £31...very pleased with myself 😊
