A darkly imaginative writer in the tradition of Joe Abercrombie, Peter V. Brett, and Neil Gaiman conjures a gritty mind-bending fantasy, set in a world where delusion becomes reality . . . and the fulfillment of humanitys desires may well prove to be its undoing. When belief defines reality, those with the strongest convictionsthe crazy, the obsessive, the delusionalhave the power to shape the world. And someone is just mad enough to believe he can create a god . . . Violent and dark, the world is filled with the Geistrekrankenmen and women whose delusions manifest. Sustained by their own beliefand the beliefs of those around themthey can manipulate their surroundings. For the High Priest Konig, that means creating order out of the chaos in his city-state, leading his believers to focus on one thing: helping a young man, Morgen, ascend to become a god. A god they can control. Trouble is, there are many who would see a god in their thrall, including the High Priests own doppelgangers, a Slaver no one can resist, and three slaves led by possibly the only sane man left. As these forces converge on the boy, theres one more obstacle: time is running out. Because as the delusions become more powerful, the also become harder to control. The fate of the Geistrekranken is to inevitably find oneself in the Afterdeath. The question, then, is: Who will rule there?

🎧 …. Prepare yourself ….

A cross between The GreatCoats and Library at Mount Char.

Yes. THAT messed up. Really dark. Several TWs. It‘s a little slow in spots. I don‘t want to scare you away. Just be prepared! (I advise against reading this book … it‘s dark)

If you were OK with LaMC (I have a SE) then this might be up your alley … a lot of characters … an unusual intriguing world.

Found this one while I was wandering through a used book section. Seemed like an interesting premise for a fantasy setting.

#fantasy.

Mehso-so

The good : very original, excellent concept for the world
The bad: shallow characterisation 10 POV characters, for me about 7 too many. Only one character with any kind of arc.
The ugly : NSFW, extreme violence and sexual content even for gritty fantasy it is a lot.

Got this in the mail for free from a lady who wants to start up a bookstore. I wish her the best but considering she sent this to me for free, I think she may have skipped business class 101. ALSO OMG FREE BOOK it looks great!
